Our Story
Teens face unique challenges every day. It isn't just social media that impacts the mental health and well being of young people in our community. We were surprised to find out that teens are often overlooked when it comes to philanthropic giving and we wanted to do something that would not only give back, but generate a meaningful impact for our peers. That is when we decided to start small with simple handmade messages of love, or "Valentines" for kids and teens facing health crisis in the hospital. We didn't have a lot of money, but we did have a lot to say. And so did our friends! Our nonprofit began with the simple idea of getting as many people to share their love as possible. We used our own money to buy all the supplies our school would need to make cards for kids and teens at Shriners. The first year was an overwhelming success and more schools and administrators began to ask us if they could join our efforts. Our mission then grew to include the collection of toys, and more specifically "teen items" for patients and their families. In 2025 we were able to collect over 1040 toy and teen items to present to patients at Shriners Childrens on Valentin's Day, and we collected over 2000 handmade Valentines. Our small group of students grew to over 18 schools and community partners. In fact, we had so many messages of love, we were able to share some with Shriners in Shreveport, Louisiana! Our mission doesn't stop there! There are so many opportunities to serve youth in our community. We believe that so much is possible if you feel that you are loved! That is why we created the Norcal Gift From the Heart Foundation!
